London: – There are several immunity boosters that the rich and the middle class have access to in order to boost their body’s immunity and stave off Covid symptoms. But what about the poor who cannot afford it?
A new peer-reviewed study offers hope to millions of poor people around the world as the common kitchen ingredient, bicarbonate of soda is found to significantly reduce symptoms of Covid-19.
According to the study conducted with 60 patient participants, simple inhalation of a sodium-bicarbonate solution reduces symptoms of Covid-19 by close to 74% – something that is bound to be welcomed the world over. It is being hoped that this discovery will be an inexpensive way to treat Covid patients.
Significant amount of improvement in the symptomatic picture of patients were seen when they were given steam steam inhalation of 8.4% sodium bicarbonate solution, while a a highly significant reduction in (C-reactive protein) CRP values of patients too were during the five-day study.
Dr Kshitij Mody and Dr Bharat Mody, lead clinical researchers, said this was occurring because the virus needs a specific environmental condition to thrive and viruses from the Corona group need a low pH (acidic) environment to fuse with human tissue. Soda-bicarbonate changes the body environment to high pH (alkaline) in the oropharynx and lungs, hampering the virus from invading tissue cells, thereby reducing its damage potential.
The sodium-bicarbonate therapy now provides a cheap, rapid and easily available remedy against symptoms of the virus infection. This is of particular importance to poor countries not having an advanced vaccine program or for those in queue for a vaccine.
The results of the study of Covid-19 positive patients has now triggered to a wider and extensive research into the use of soda-bicarbonate as a prophylactic.
